Continuity
Every sentence of what you way will be parsed into individual sound bites that need to be complete as stand alone bites. Rather than using pronouns "they" "those" etc, please just directly say who or what you are talking about in each sentence.
Terminology
Please ALWAYS use USNA/USN/USMC terminology when appropriate, but then define what you mean. Don't refer to the "Yard" as the campus, for example, "when I first walked through the yard, the campus, I felt . . . ." Refer to your class rank as Plebe, Youngster, etc vice the civilian equivalents, as example "during my second class year, or Junior year, I started to . . . ." or It's not necessary to define everything every time, as others will be defining many of the same terms.
References
We will also need some interviewees to place facts to keep the time line of DADT in perspective. For example, an alumni from the class of 1993 could say "Don't Ask Don't Tell was placed into effect just after I graduated in May 1993."
It's important that your facts check. A statement such as "I was in the first class of women just after Jimmy Carter signed the bill mandating women attend the academies" doesn't fact check.
